BUGHOUSE User Agreement
BUGHOUSE User Agreement

This board is designed to encourage candid interchange within the NEIU community. Individual users may add to their “ignore list” other users whose messages they find personally objectionable. In this way the board allows users to “ban” each other. While the administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit extremely objectionable material as quickly as possible, it is impossible to thoroughly review every message. Therefore you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators or webmaster (except for posts by these people), or Northeastern Illinois University, and hence those entities will not be held liable.

BUGHOUSE Code of Conduct & Rules

The following guidelines apply to all community forums. Please read them carefully. The Bughouse Community Forums are provided to give the NEIU community a place to meet to discuss topics of interest. NEIU is a complex environment that relies on productive and positive relationships. To help ensure that these forums can provide a place for individuals to meet and discuss issues inside and outside the community, we expect you to abide by the following rules. Failure to do so may result in warnings, banishment, or other disciplinary action as deemed necessary. These rules, which in some ways restrict first amendment rights of free speech on these forums, are intended to provide further, more practical guidance for users than the registration agreement. In any situation where NEIU regulations conflict with these rules, the NEIU regulations supercede these rules.

1.) You agree not to post any material that may violate any applicable laws. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned (and in some cases public authorities may be notified).

2.) You agree that the webmaster, administrator and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any topic at any time should they see fit.

3.) To ensure the standard of this community, posts of an offensive nature (including inappropriate language, nudity, or hate language) will be heavily moderated. This includes URLs posted to the board.

4.) You may not publish, post, upload, distribute or disseminate any profane, infringing, obscene, indecent or unlawful topic, name, material or information; as determined by the moderators.

5.) You may not abuse, harass, stalk, threaten or otherwise violate the legal rights (such as rights of privacy and publicity) of others. Specifically, you may not publish personal information, such as address, e-mail, or contact information of others without their permission.

6.) You may not arrange for the exchange of pirated software or other illegal items/substances while using the service.

7.) Your user profile will be stored in a database which will not be made accessible to other users. We will take great care to keep this database secure, and any unauthorized attempt to access it will be punishable by law. All `hacking’ reports will be investigated by the Bughouse Staff as they arise. Users who are caught `hacking’ in any way shape or form will be banned immediately with no warning, questions, or recourse. Linking to any file/program/software that could harm a person’s computer will result in a ban.

8.) You may not harvest or otherwise collect information about others, including e-mail addresses and IPs.

9.) Extraordinarily hostile posts directed at individuals (rather than opinions) are not tolerated and will be heavily moderated at the moderators` discretion.

10.) Do not repost threads that have been locked, moved or deleted and do not repost content that has been edited or deleted by the moderators. Do not repost private emails without the participant’s expressed permission.

11.) From time-to-time you may see moderators edit posts to make a comment. These comments will be identified in brackets and are intended to assist keeping the boards on track. Moderator comments should not be fabricated or edited, and we discourage discussions of moderator’s decisions. If you have feedback on an action taken by a moderator, please direct your questions to bughouse@neiu.edu.

12.) This board may not be used for dissemination of course materials or announcements. Blackboard is designed for that purpose.

13.) Personal messages should be limited to the `Personals` forum, direct e-mail or the chat room.

14.) Spamming is not allowed on these forums.

15.) Businesses may not advertise or offer to sell or buy any goods on these forums without expressed permission from bughouse@neiu.edu.

16.) You may not publish knowing and malicious false information on this board. NEIU, the Board Administrator and Moderators cannot be held responsible for false information posted on these forums.
