If he is successful, the nephew stands to inherit $6,000,000. If he is discovered, the money will go to the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn.

Lucky Stiff is a farcical musical comedy. It was the first collaboration for the musical theater team of Lynn Ahrens (book and lyrics) and Stephen Flaherty (music). The show is based on the 1983 novel The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo by Michael Butterworth. It was created and performed at Playwrights Horizons off-Broadway in 1988, and won the Richard Rodgers Award for that year. The original cast included Stuart Zagnit, Mary Testa, and Julie White.

In 1990, the show was presented regionally at the Olney Theatre in Maryland, winning the Helen Hayes Award for Best Musical. The production starred Evan Pappas. A 1994 studio cast recording included Judy Blazer as Annabel, Jason Graae as Vinnie, Debbie Shapiro Gravitte as Dominique, Paul Kandel as Anthony, Pappas as Harry, Testa as Rita, Barbara Rosenblatt as the Landlady, Bruce Winant as the Boarder, and Patrick Quinn as the Monte Carlo Emcee.

In 1994, the musical had its British debut at the Theater Royal in Lincoln in the English midlands, and in 1997 it had a West End production, starring Frances Ruffelle, Paul Baker, and Tracie Bennett Directed by Steven Dexter. It was revived for five performances as part of the York Theatre's Musicals in Mufti series in 2003, with Zagnit, Testa, and several of the other original Playwrights Horizons cast members, as well as Malcolm Gets as Harry and Janet Metz as Annabelle.

FAA Hiring

I got this from another list - maybe it can help someone here....

If you have or know kids between the ages of 18-31 with a high school diploma, the Federal Aviation Association is taking applications for air traffic controller school. We all have kids and know kids in the right age group (under 31) and with some effort they could reach a salary of over $100,000 with benefits in about 3 years! You need only a high school diploma to apply and credit is given for college on the exam.

http://www.faa.gov/jobs/job_opportunities/...fic_controllers

Fill out the application immediately - even if they don't know if they'd
want to attend immediately - it's the federal government and it may take them months to call. The key is to apply NOW... There will be a lot of retirements coming up rather quickly and they need to line up training to accommodate these openings. It's my understanding that the FAA rarely has an open application such as this and that the jobs are coveted.

The person who shared this has a 28 year old daughter who is well into 6 figures and has plenty of time for travel/recreation and has started another career on the side. This is a great opportunity and it should be noted that choosing a site like Anchorage or Indianapolis to train is a likely acceptance into the training program - after which you can transfer anywhere in the country that has a tower.

I hope you pass this information on to family & friends.

Campus Progress Report

Send a Message to Your Local Paper

As you know, the House passed a student aid bill last month that will cut $87 billion in wasteful subsidies for student loan companies and instead put that money towards making college more affordable and accessible.

Now the bill's on its way to the Senate, but student loan companies are doing everything they can to stop it.

Student loan giant Sallie Mae has already spent more than a quarter million dollars (that we know of) on newspaper ads trying to stop the bill, along with at least $3 million on lobbying. Another anti-student aid group hired the PR firm Qorvis Communications that offered to pay "experts" to write op-eds and appear on TV to criticize an investigation into AIG a few years ago.

To fight back, we need to make sure the newspapers know what actual students think of the bill. We're set up a system for people from across the country to email letters to their local papers and say that congress should invest in students, not banks.

Click here to write a letter to your local paper.

We've put up a sample letter & talking points to make it quick and easy, and you can use our online system to find your paper and send your letter with just two clicks.

Thanks for all that you're doing,

Looking for a roommate

Hi all,

I found a great apartment right across the street from the Science Building on St. Louis and was wondering if anyone would like to room with me. It's a 2br. with den. One bathroom, kitchen, livingroom, and dining room. It has great natural light and is pretty spacious. The heat is included in the rent and there is free laundry in the building. It's on the 2nd. floor. The rent is $1200 a month but the landlady is willing to go down to $1100. On a personal note I have been attending NEIU since the spring of 05 and I'm starting my clinicals this semester. I am getting my degree in Elementary Education and plan on teaching Middle School. If anyone is interested please contact me by email meme_hlinak@yahoo.com

To be or not to be...Blackboard

So...
I would imagine the concept of Blackboard would be great. Granted there are a couple teachers that use it fully, but I've run into hardly any of them. I get it though, we're not the only class, or this isn't your only job, or whatever the reason is. However, school isn't my only priority or responsibility. School is not the only thing that creates havoc on my week. It isn't the only headache I have...and it certainly isn't the only thing that I can barely fit into my schedule. However, I have time to do the homework, the projects, the studying. I can somehow manage to do that while working full-time and going to school almost full-time. Is it maybe that some professors don't like Blackboard? That they feel it is more of a pain?

I doubt any will read, but here goes my 2 cents. Use Blackboard, if not for you then for us. Even if it is just updated on Friday's or Sunday's. I truly feel it helps to see your progress, or lack of. If it is sitting in front of you it makes it "real". To get tests back some good, some bad and just stash it away does nothing for me to track it. Sure I should be more responsible to track these things, but c'mon how long will it take to grade tests and just pop those grades in Blackboard? At least it is something I can reference on a daily basis. Oh and could we please use the announcement sections? I work full-time and I may not be able to make it to class one day because of work, but then I go the next class day and find out it's canceled. If we use the announcement to let us know then at least some of us can be relieved of that hassle. Work and home are nowhere near school for some of us, so it helps.

Anyway, just my thoughts...it's a shame to have a tool like Blackboard and have no one use it. To the teachers that do use it fully Thanks! Props to Professor Strid on that!

To other's I know life is busy, but it would be awesome to utilize such a great system!

Into the Wild

Just a quick short review, sorry!

So this is an older movie. Into the Wild is the story of Christopher McCandless. Emile Hirsch is the lead actor play Mr. McCandless. The movie starts with McCandless graduating college and getting ready for law school. He does, however, have a complete different idea. You can feel tension between him and his parents as well as a desire to break away from the mold that he was forced to live by. McCandless decides to take off and live off nature, leaving the cares of society behind him. Along the way he meets several different people, he met a hippy couple, an old war vet and a young girl hoping to be a musician. You can see the affect he had on these people. He was the son that one missed and the other lost. He was the friend that one needed. He was the inspiration they all took from. Once McCandless reached Alaska he lived off the land, finding his own food, hunting...completely going back to nature. This movie taught me several things. It showed me how dependent people are with "things"; Cars, money, with how convenient things were in society. It made me realize that we sometimes don't find the beauty in life, and that we worry so much about things that don't need to be worried about. I would definitely recommend seeing this movie, you can't possibly leave this movie without some inspiration.

What is the deal with movies today?

Ok so granted, Dark Knight was a great movie in my opinion and I thought Pineapple Express was hilarious. The rest of these movies coming out are complete trash. I saw Tropic Thunder and it's sad that all the funny parts were in the commercials. This new one The Rocker? I don't know about anyone else, but i'm tired of these kid comedy's. The last decent one was Superbad. Can we get some funny movies that are actually funny? Like non-stop laughing? Some action movies that are really good? (oh...i forgot Ironman...that was good too) Even though I did like Batman and Ironman, can we get over this bringing it back attitude with comics? I mean geezus! I heard they want to do Captain America and The Flash...seriously? What's next? Sonic the Movie? And don't even start with Horror movies...holy crap! Strangers was decent, but I want something that will give me nightmares!

I think i'll move to Indie films...these high budget ones are too worried about who is in it than the content of the movie!

Sorry for the ramblings, but i'm frustrated with movies. Any thoughts? Or suggestions as to what movies are good that may not have been all over tv every few minutes?
